What prescription pain killer were you given to take home after your c section?
12 comments so farOr, were you given a pain killer to take home after a vaginal delivery?
Was it enough?
I was given Percocet and Ibuprofen to take home after my C-section. They only gave me 45 Percocet which was not nearly enough. My doctor had no problem giving me a new prescription for another 60 (not sure why I wasn’t given this many to start with) since I ran out in about 5 or 6 days and when I had my 2 week check-up, she asked if I needed more which I declined.

I had a C section, and I wasn’t given any prescription pain killers! All I was taking in the hospital was 600 mg of Motrin, so they just told me to buy Motrin over the counter. It was enough, I guess. I survived.

I wasn’t given a prescription after my vaginal delivery. I was told to take Motrin if needed. I never needed it.
I was given Percasets after my c-section, and told to take both Percasets and Motrin. It was more than enough.

I was given a shot of morphine after my c-section and Tylenol after that.

I had a vaginal delivery with some significant tearing so they gave me ibuprofen 800 mg.
It was fine, the itching of the stitches healing was worse than the pain!! LOL

Tylenol 3’s with both of my c-sections and they did help, while I was still in the hospital they gave me Demerol.

I had a c-section and was given perkaset (probably spelled wrong). I took it as needed for about 2 weeks after delivery. At the hospital I was given a morphine drip! Sounds excessive? I breastfeed so I tried to limit the amount of painkillers that were entering my body. (after reading other posts I forgot, I had 800mg Motrin as well, more than enough)

Percaset (I have no idea how to spell that) and 600mg Motrin. I took the Perx for a day or two….but the Motrin was really enough after that.

They gave me Vicodin and Ibuprofin 800 mgs to take home. While I was in the hospital they gave me some pain killers thru the i.v. but I’m not sure what it was!
I never even took any vicodin the Ibuprofin was enough after my c section.

With my first two I was given Demerol. With my third and fourth I was given Vicodin. I also had prescription Ibuprofen with all four. I didn't take any pain meds after my fourth c-section because I felt great, other than the cramping when I nursed. Maybe all my nerve endings had been destroyed by the previous three? lol

I was given percoset to take home after both my c-sections. It worked great to manage the pain, and I was able to switch to just ibuprofen after just a couple days with my first and after a week with my second.
