When they check for a yeast infection, they do a smear of a small sample. I would ask your mom to call them and see if you can collect a sample yourself. If you are not sexually active, the possible infections you could get are limited quite a bit. This may be possible especially if all your symptoms are consistent. If this doesn't work, give the over the counter stuff another try - that could be what you would be told to buy anyways. All you are doing is pushing a small capsule of medication up there.

trust me i used to have the same problem!

if its a yeast infection, then it must be pretty serious huh? well the Doctor is going to help your yeast infection and make you feel better again! so really the doctor is on your side and wants to help you get better!

i used to not like shots because the thought of something piercing my skin freaked me out! but the i just closed my eyes and held my moms hand and didn't even feel it! and wah lah! i am now protected against cervical cancer! also they give you a lolly pop sometimes or a sticker when you leave lol.

don't be afraid and trust me you would probably rather go to the doctor to make it better than to get really sick and go through the pain and suffering, right?

Just be brave!
talk to your mom about your fears
but yeast infections are very uncomfortable and if OTC did not help then the doc can give you good cream that works
also it might be something more serious that you need to get checked out

The best thing you can do is to relax! I know it sounds impossible, but the more relaxed you are, the easier it will go. While the doctor is doing the exam, if you feel the slightest bit of pain or discomfort, tell her/him. You can also ask the doctor to warm up the instruments before she/he starts, and ask them to use the smallest size they have. During the exam, it helps to talk to take your mind off of what's going on. You'll see that it's not all that bad. And just think how much relief you're going to get when she/he gives you a prescription. Tell them that you would prefer the prescription in a pill form. You have this right as a patient. Pssh. Really? It's easy! All you do basically is go talk to the doctor, they ask what you like to do and are usually very friendly. Assuming that you are under 18, you'll probably have to go to a children's pediatrics, and they are VERY friendly. Actually, it depends on the person but, depending on there boss they usually are. Wow, I have no idea why your afraid, I'm never afraid. I always get excited, since well, you know whats up. It's actually scarier if you DON'T go.

Hi! well i was in the same exact situation as you!! i was terrified to go but i was so relieved after it was over. turns out i didnt have a yeast infection after all, just a lot of discharge that made it uncomfortable. anyway, it's really not as bad as you think. what i did was just think "Id rather take care of myself and have it awkward for 10 minutes at most than deal with an awful infection". its just kinda something you have to take a deep breath & go. please let your mom take you, you'll be so relieved & happy its done afterwards. you can do it!!

I think you need to talk to your doctor and explain to him/her what your fears are. That way they can avoid doing the things the invoke your fears and calm your fears. If you have problems with male doctors than request a female. Whatever you do, you have to get over your fears. You never know what can happen. One day you may get really sick and have to stay in the hospital for a extended time. The most efficient way to end your fears is to face them head on so be strong and go to the doctors.

It's very rare when a yeast infection cures itself. Periods might weaken the symptoms, but usually not make it go away completely. I've been in your exact position before, sweetie. When I actually got to the doctor's, it wasn't so bad. All he did was have me pull down my pants and take a quick look and a few swabs with a q-tip (not a very scary tool, huh?). He didn't go inside at all and it didn't even take a minute. What they do with the q-tip is take it to a lab and check to see if it really is a yeast infection. It takes a few days to find out. But you'll be fine, I promise. And you can have your mom in the room if you want.

try getting a female doctor. When i went to the gyno for the first time i went to a female doctor and it was alot less scary b/c you can relate to them better i geuss.

Omg I feel your pain. I am terrified of doctors. Absolutely terrified. I haven't actually been to the doctor since I was 8. Luckily if I ever need anything, my parents are doctors! But in your case, I guess you just have to grin and bare it): I'm so sorry. Especially for that sort of thing, you can't really do anything): Just try to get it over with.

My daughter had a yeast infection when she was 1. Its nothing to worry about. Maybe go to a female doctor who you should feel more comfortable with

You really should see the doctor. If it is more comfortable for you, see a woman. You can ask her to call in something for anxiety for you at your pharmacy - something mild. You would be pleasantly surprised how well that works. The period thing does not always work.

Don't be afraid. Just relax, and remember that they can treat your problem & you won't have to deal with it anymore. Usually doctor visits are over quickly, unless it's something serious.
