Can I bore you guys with a teething question?

7 comments so far

My 6-month old baby has what I call "secret teeth". I have to pull his lip way down to see them, and they are just about to poke through the surface of the skin.
He hasn't been excessively fussy, but he has been waking more frequently at night. He chews as often as he [...]

Abortion, a man's choice as well?

36 comments so far

I read a very general comment that women only use the 'excuse'
"It's my body so mind your own business"……Do you realize that is not the only reason we are pro-choice? As I stated before, until we have the same rights as men (and WE STILL DON'T) abortion will remain an unfortunate option. YOU [...]

I was denied federal employment JUST b/c of a anti inflammatory I was prescribed and don't even take!!?

2 comments so far

I asked this question before but now I have details.
I talked to the fed Dr and he stated that the ONLY reason why I was denied Employment is b/c I have a perscription for Indocin. There are NO side effects, in fact the only reason why my doctor gave it to me is so [...]

I have a cold and I am pregnant… what's okay?

9 comments so far

FYI, I am 24 weeks along.
I'm VERY reluctant to take any sort of OTC med without the doctor's explicit approval, but I'm wondering if cough drops, at least, are okay? Otherwise I can always suck on hard candy I suppose.
I am also sipping tea and have a humidifier going (is the Vicks vapor stuff ok [...]

9 comments so far

My daughter has been coughing since Sunday and now she is getting fussy. Her nose is stopped up and I can tell she just don't feel well in general. She always wants to be held and cuddled, which I am doing a ton of. But I don't know if there is anything that is [...]

Toddler with a cold….?

13 comments so far

My 4 year old has a nasty cold. Besides his prescribed antibiotics and advised dosages of OTC meds, what can I do to soothe him? His nose is constantly running, but he's still stuffy. He coughs in his sleep and is just restless in general. Any advice?
Try a little Vicks mixed [...]

No remedy for yeast infection to be found. Please help!?

8 comments so far

My mother and my brother have yeast infections, my brother's is moderate, my mother's is severe, and it is genetic, since my grandparents on my mother's side both had it severe as well.
My mother has tried everything for almost a decade now, but nothing has worked at all, and I mean NOTHING, not OTC drugs, [...]

Ok, I think my daughter has….?

9 comments so far

Ok, I think my daughter has ringworm, and it's Saturday night. I can't even call her doc till Monday. So, I searched Yahoo Answers for something about children and ringworm.
All I came up with was the sysmptoms of it, and to go see a doc. Well, since its Saturday, and she can't see the doc [...]

Bad breath help!?

1 comment so far

I have very bad breath. My family and friends are constantly offering me gum or mints with their hands over their noses (joingly, but not really…) I brush my teeth 2-3 times a day and floss daily. I tried a couple OTC toothpastes and tonguepastes. The latest made my tongue peel, [...]

Canadian Tylenol/codeine pills continued?

3 comments so far

I think some of you may have mistaken what I am asking. I am NOT asking for Tylenol 3s. I understand that you need a Rx for tylenol 3's. I know what you need a Rx for, and these are not among those. However, what I am asking for, is a [...]

non prescription antidepressents?

4 comments so far

I'm looking for non-prescription (OTC or easily available online) anti-depressants.
I saw Zoloft had a generic called sertaline but I can't find where to buy it online so that must be prescription.
I'd prefer people not suggest I see a doctor, it's not for me… it's for a friend.
General depression tablets will be good. Nothing in specific.
You [...]

3 comments so far

I woke up this morning with this pain on the left side of my head. The pain is also in my left eye but I keep getting sharp pain in one general area of my head. OTC pain relievers are not working. I am scared because my boyfriend had a subarachnoid hemmorage last year and [...]

Is it normal in UK that GP will not examine you for cold ?

15 comments so far

I am new to UK. I went to GP for the first time yesterday because I have a very bad cold for 4 days now and I did not go to office on Friday because of this. I have stuffy nose, headache, cough, aching throat and I feel very bad in general.

Are the meds I'm on now going to effect me during surgery?

4 comments so far

I'm having surgery 4/4 and I'm going under general anesthesia. I take Ultram a few times a week for headaches and sometimes I take an OTC sleep aid at night. Will these meds interfere with the anesthesia? I won’t take anything the night before of course. Prolly just thin my blood right?
Yeah I will [...]

General Q about birth control?

1 comment so far

Okay, my girlfriend started taking birth control due to very painful cramps. She would pass out they were so bad sometimes. While on birth control she is extremely moody and has been diagnosed with emotional problems while on it.
If she is removed from BC, her cramps will come back. Unfortunately if she cannot take tylenol [...]

Is it possible to get reimbursed for vitamins or supplements through FSA?

1 comment so far

This is about Healthcare Flexible Spending Account usage for vitamins. I know the general rule is 'no', but are there exceptions, perhaps if I have a doctor's letter or referral? Same questions for OTC creams for dry skin. Any way to get reimbursed for those? ADP is our claim processor. Thanks!
I'm sure it won't hurt [...]

I am looking for a comparison of acetaminophen, and OTC nsaids.?

3 comments so far

Compare acetaminophen, aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen. In general, is one better for reducing fever? Inflammation? Headache? Muscle aches? Chronic pain? Acute pain? Or does that vary by individual?
Acetaminophen is only truly effective as a fever reducer. Naproxen is the strongest OTC medication for pain. Aspirin is probably the [...]

What are good OTC treatments for Onychomycosis (toe fungus)?

5 comments so far

I'm looking for stuff I can get over the counter to treat a fungal infection underneath the toenail, but so far all I've found online is stuff for general foot fungus, prescriptions, and stuff you can only order online/by phone. I'll take anything topical or oral, but don't know what to look for. Especially looking [...]
